By the end of 2019, all motorists on Jalan Protokol will be charged

Go fakta. Jakarta, the implementation of an electronic road pricing / ERP system program is targeted to take effect no later than the end of 2019. Later, all protocol road users will be charged.

Head of the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) Bambang Prohartono said that his office is still reviewing the road segments that will be subject to fees for car owners who pass and the amount to be paid.

"We are still reviewing but clearly we don't need the State Budget (APBN)," Bambang said on Friday (12/14).

What is certain, Bambang said, is that there are three road segments that will be charged next year. The first segment is Sudirman-Thamrin, the second segment is the main road around Kuninga, and the third segment is Jakarta-Bekasi and Jakarta-Depok. However, only section three is the responsibility of BPTJ.

In implementing an ERP program, the government will use a scheme of cooperation between the government and business entities (PPP). However, he also could not specify the private sector who had expressed interest in the ERP program.

"The tariff will also be calculated based on congestion, so at any time if the traffic jam is severe, the tariff will increase. Let the congestion be calculated," Bambang said.

It is known, the ERP program plan has actually emerged since a few years ago. It's just that the government has implemented an odd-even policy first.

"This odd-even rule can only be one year, there is no other choice. So if ERP 2019 doesn't work, then transportation will deteriorate again," said Bambang.

In addition to the ERP implementation plan, BPTJ also seeks to integrate all payment systems for transportation modes in Jabodetabek, such as the commuter line, mass rapid transportation (MRT), light rail transit (LRT) and Trans Jakarta buses.
